Hangin’ with Friends in Big D

After a harrowing drive from Austin to Lake Lewisville through Fort Worth on I-35, we were so pleased to be settled for the week at Hickory Creek. Hickory Creek Campground is on Lake Lewisville and is about 40 minutes from downtown Dallas during off peak hours.

Perot Museum of Natural Science was really awesome. Our friend Glynda joined us on our quest for knowledge. This is a hands on museum that is a lot of fun. You can make your own bird using the computers in the Hall of Birds. Glynda and I made one and it was hysterically pathetic. Scott and Glynda faced off on a game called predator versus prey. No surprise that Scott won – he’s sneaky. We got to see some beautiful minerals, experienced an earthquake, and played meteorologist during a tornado. This is a great place to spend a few hours. Go later in the day as their are many field trips here during the morning.

During our time we wanted to see as many friends as possible. Thanks for taking time out of your schedule for dinner Tim, Missy, Bill, Karen, Sean, and Glynda. And although I don’t have a picture of Elisa and Mary Alice thanks to you as well. John and Cheryl appreciate you opening your home for late night happy hour before your early morning drive.

A huge shout out to Becki and Bob for their hospitality. It was so good to see you both for lunch and Bocci ball.

The Dallas World Aquarium is just fabulous. I think the pictures speak for themselves.

Scott had never been to Dealey Plaza where President John F. Kennedy was shot in 1963. The Texas School Book Depository where shooter, Lee Harvey Oswald, is said to have fired the shots that killed JFK from the 6th floor.

The Grassy Knoll is also pictured below. The Grassy Knoll is where Secret Service agents initially believed the assassination shots were fired.

On the road you can see Xs painted which indicate where the limousine carrying JFK was located during the shots.

Great to see you Phil. You look wonderful!!

    1. Hi Sue. I’m bummed that we won’t see you in Colorado this trip. We did the Million Dollar Hwy. So beautiful as promised. We are on the train tomorrow (Saturday). This weekend coincides with the Iron Horse so should be a blast. Bar-D is next week. Appreciate all the tips!!
